Holiday Dressing...no the kind that you wear!

Pinned Image

Tomorrow kicks off the season of stuffing our faces ridiculously and unapologetically cooking and eating delicious homemade foods with our friends and family.  Sooo that's going to mean that most likely your skinny jeans will get tossed to the back of your closet for the weekend.  On trend options like sweater dresses and cable knit sweaters are going to be the best bet to look both cute and comfortable.
Also, keeping your make up simple and fresh is key.  Even if you might be going out to a club after dinner with family, it's probably not a good idea to be dressed like it in front of your Grams!  Have a safe and happy holiday to all!

Fall Fashion Do's and Don'ts

Working in retail I see people with great style and others well, not so much... Sometimes I find myself needing to fix the expression on my face quickly before they notice I have a "WTF are you wearing?" look on my face. Here are my biggest pet peeves and the solutions to them.
1. Shorts/capris with boots (DON'T) / Solution: Skinny jeans tucked into tall riding boots

2. Button down shirts worn as a cardigan (DON'T)/Solution: JUST WEAR A CARDIGAN! HELLO?
You know how people will wear a button down dress shirt and leave it open to expose a tank top or t-shirt?  Please stop.  Just button up your shirt and wear a cardigan over it or pull over a cable knit sweater.  Ta Da!  Examples of said solution:

3. In the workplace, particularly during the Fall season, it's appropriate to pair your dresses with a pair of tights.  It makes the outfit look more polished and professional.  So cheers to a free pass to not having to shave everyday! Ha!  Lesson here? Dress with bare legs= DON'T/Solution: tights or tall socks with boots.  Here's a pic of a perfect look for work:

4.  Sigh.  I do love nail color, but in the Fall walking around with your pointers looking like Rainbow Bright is not cute.  Choose earthy or jewel tones for nails.  If you must do a different color on each nail, try the ombre effect.  It works for both weekend and work if done in a neutral color.

Be Thankful

This year I have a lot to be thankful for.  2011 has truly been a great year for me.  With only two days left until we all gather around the dinner table with our family and friends, it's a good time to reflect on what we're most thankful for.  (Also the delicious foods at the table!).
My grandma and I survived the zoo at the grocery store on Sunday to buy our foods for dinner on Thursday.  Menu is as follows:
turkey, dressing, scalloped potatoes, green bean casserole, mac n cheese, sweet potatoes with marshmellos, cranberry sauce, potato salad, sweet corn and pumpkin pie.
YUM!  What's on your menu?

Motto of Life

This quote is so true.  If you want happiness in your own life, you must seek it yourself.  Also never rely on one other person to be your source of happiness.  Whether that's a friend, relative, significant other, etc., etc.  You must learn to be happy with yourself inside and out.  To add to that, it's important to do what makes you happy in life.  Living your life for someone else is a lie to yourself and such a waste of time.  Be true to yourself and you'll enjoy life a lot much more.  With that said, I'm filling out my college application for the millionth, bagillionth (yes those are words as of right..now) time so that I can have the career I want.  This time I'll finish, if it's the last thing I do on Earth.  *sigh*
