Hey everyone!  Hope you are enduring the summer temps...and if you're lucky enough to live where it's not 100+ degrees everyday, want to trade places with me??  Ha!  This past weekend I went to my family reunion in my hometown, and being the creative and colorful (where else do I get it from? lol) family that we are, we had a "Western Wear" theme for the weekend!  My grandma found one of my dad's old hats for me to wear, and I incorporated it with my outfit for Saturday's events.  It was SO exciting to see everyone, and such a fun, fun weekend!

Happy Friday everyone! Apologies for the lack of posts this week, but I've been super tired and a little under the weather! :(  I didn't want to just post for the sake of posting, so I figured I'd take a little break.  I'm back and what better way to end the week than with a FABULOUS find?  I found these jeans at Old Navy while browsing thru all my Gap, Inc. brands online.  Ya'll know I love me some color jeans, and I am in love with every single color here! I especially love the plum and pink ones which are perfect to carry over into Fall paired with leopard slippers, yes?!  And would you believe there are even more colors than I posted here?! Friday's Fabulous Find: Magnetic Nails

 

I joined Influenster a couple of months ago, and just recently I was selected to receive their Summer Beauty VoxBox!  Two of my favorite products in the Box are the Sally Hansen nail products!  By now, you may have seen/heard about their Magnetic Nail Colors that came out this summer.  As a lover of nail polish I decided to give it a try.  Exfoliate your skin as seen here and moisturize with the Sally Hansen Nails & Cuticles Hand Cream first.

  Note: First, paint your nails with a clear base coat (I used my own Sally Hansen Hard as Nails hardener)

 Apply one coat of color to all nails and let dry.

 Apply a generous second coat of polish to each nail then...

Immediately hold the magnet over the nail for 10 seconds.  Carefully repeat for each nail.

Finish with a clear top coat of polish, then and you're done!

Glam Kitchen | Peach Delight

 When we think of summer foods, we think of light and refreshing, right?  I have a horrible (depends on who ya ask! ha!) sweet tooth, and no matter what I still love dessert at the end of a meal!  The other day I was craving something sweet, but wanted to have something healthy and light, so I decided to make this little recipe.  My grandma usually prepares her recipe with apples, but I figured peaches will work just as well! 

Ingredients:

Peaches

Natural honey

Allspice (or cinnamon)

Brown sugar

Water

 Slice the peaches into small pieces.  I also kept the skin on mine, but you don't have to.

 Cook on stovetop with about two cups of water on medium heat until peaches are soft.

Sprinkle in allspice, two tablespoons of brown sugar and tablespoon of honey

*Of course you can adjust to your liking*

Top with your favorite cereal (I used Kashi GoLean Crisp Cinnamon Crumble) and enjoy!

I know it's the middle of summer right now, but being the lover of fashion that I am, I am already lusting after some Fall fashions. I spotted these pretty leopard studded loafers while browsing Piperlime's pre-fall sale last weekend, and fell in love! They were like 50% off, but now they're regular price so I will be saving my precious pennies to get these babies. Haha!  In any case though, this may or may not be my go-to outfit for the upcoming season, especially to go with these shoes. How about you? Anything that you HAVE to have for your wardrobe this Fall?

July 2012 Front Page Glam: Rachel Roy

Rachel Roy is one of my favorite designers.  She really knows how to design for a woman's body, and she is not afraid to use color and prints!  She always looks effortlessly glam and seems to manage her roles as mother and entrepreneur perfectly.  I picked a few pieces from her summer collection that you can incorporate into your own wardrobe to get her look.  Luxe, on trend, and glam? Yes!

Who says you can't be glam on the beach??  I am really loving the "color of the year" and it looks great on all skin tones!  Add in a few gold accessories and you're good to go.  How hot is that bracelet, right?  Just remember to take off the jewels before ya jump in the water! :-)  Happy Friday everyone and have a great weekend!

Street Style Glam | Camille

I've decided to start a new series here on the blog!  I'm hoping to snap some pictures of people I know (and some at random) who I think have a great glam look going on!  This is Camille, my "fashion sister" who I think always looks glam no matter where she goes!  I swear her shoe closet could rival the stockroom of Nordstorm!  ;-)  I love the cutout detail on the back of her shirt, and the hoop earrings add that extra bit of glam to her casual oufit.

DIY: Honey + Brown Sugar Scrub

If you follow my Facebook and Twitter you saw my post about creating an exfoliant from some ingredients in my kitchen over the weekend. Now I'm no Carol's Daughter, but I wanted to see if I could whip something up myself. I think I'll be using my own little recipe the rest of the summer rather than shelling out for something from the store!  Some of you requested the recipe, so here it is! :)

Ingredients: vanilla, honey, olive oil, brown sugar



Mix the ingredients together:
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon honey
1 drop of vanilla extract (I added it for scent)

Rinse and voila!  Smooth and soft hands.

Glam Kitchen | Chicken Penne Pasta

Happy Monday everyone!  I found this recipe (follow along here), and it is so easy and quick (30 minutes!) to prepare!  It's delicious too...next time I may add in some broccoli.  Hmm.  Serve up with a tossed salad or fresh veggies and you've got an easy meal for you, with your significant other, or for the family.  Have a great week!

The temps are averaging around 100 degrees everyday now, so taking photos outside has become somewhat of an exercise.  I mean seriously, spend just fifteen minutes outside in this Texas heat and you will feel like a french fry!  Ha!  Hope you all are staying cool and thanks for reading!
